Big News!

Big news budgeting besties…we’re moving to Finland!  “Finland?!  What, when, why, tell me all the things!” you say?  Ok thanks for asking, I will.

I’m currently finishing up a bachelor’s degree in business administration at my local university.  I’m a senior and I’ll be graduating in May 2026.  My husband and I traveled to London eight years ago and ever since then we said that we wanted to move abroad with our kids before they graduate.  Well, fast forward to the beginning of this year when the idea of studying abroad popped back into my mind.  I had thought about this before, but I didn’t really know much about it.  Like, could I even take my family with me or is it limited to students only?

After doing some research, I learned that my university participates in a student exchange program and that yes, there are some programs that allow you to bring dependents (although that list was very small).  I ended up applying for three different locations, two in England and one in Finland, and I was ultimately placed at the University of Jyväskylä in Finland!

I will go over more of the process in later posts but as of this writing, me, my husband, and two girls (12 and 14) are only 3 days! away from leaving our home in Colorado and flying to Finland where we’ll be living through the end of the year.  My girls will both be attending school there as well and I could not be more excited!  Finland is well-known for their excellent education system, and I feel very blessed that we will all be able to experience it.

Stay tuned, there’s lots more to come!
