You know the first book review had to be the GOAT right?!  Dave Ramsey’s The Total Money Makeover is such a great place to start if you’re new to budgeting, have money goals, or just want to learn more about personal finance.  I’ve read this book previously and just listened to it again on audio.  This is also the book we gift to new graduates, couples getting married, and unsuspecting family members at Christmas.

In this book, Dave breaks down common myths about money and walks you through his baby step process.  This is not some get rich quick scheme that is so common on social media today.  It offers practical, easy to understand and follow information on how to get out of debt and build wealth.  Be warned though, if you’re like we were before we started this program, many of these ideas might sound a little crazy at first and go against everything you’ve been taught (wait, we don’t need a credit score?).  But millions of people have followed this process, and I can tell you from personal experience that IT WORKS!

You do not have to buy this book.  Check out the physical, digital, or audio version of this book out at your library or see if a friend or family member has a copy.  If you want to buy it, check at your local thrift shop.  I just saw two copies at our Goodwill last time I was there.  If you don’t want to wait or have to search for it, you can buy a copy here.  I’ve also attended Financial Peace University which takes a deeper dive into the program and the baby steps.  If you have a chance, I would definitely recommend attending these classes.

Are you ready to have your own Total Money Makeover?!
